Greek-born, London-based artist Kostas Papakostas works across painting and moving image, exploring the relationship between stillness and motion through two distinct but interconnected practices. While his observational video work quietly contemplates nature, time and the human condition, his paintings emerge from an intensely physical and intuitive process, where gesture becomes both subject and language.

Working directly on canvases laid across the studio floor, Kostas approaches each painting without a predetermined outcome. Every brushstroke is executed in a single, uninterrupted movement, with no corrections or layering. If a mark fails, it is removed and the process begins again. This disciplined yet instinctive approach creates compositions that feel effortless while carrying the weight of complete focus and intention.
