Born in Sunderland in the North East of England, Lee's passion for art began at an early age. After studying Fine Art at the University of Chester, where he graduated with First Class Honours and was awarded the University's Fine Art Prize, he committed himself to painting full-time. Years of dedicated studio practice led to the development of his distinctive artistic voice, and the launch of Lee Herring Art.

Working with acrylics, spray paint and paint markers, Lee embraces an intuitive and expressive process. Using unconventional tools including palette knives, trowels and scrapers, he builds layers of colour and texture before revealing glimpses of what lies beneath. Each painting evolves organically, with every gesture influencing the next, creating works that feel alive with energy and movement.

Lee's work is instantly recognisable for its vibrant palette, expressive mark-making and tactile surfaces. Neon flashes, soft pastels and richly textured layers combine to create paintings that are both contemporary and deeply engaging. While abstraction sits at the heart of his practice, recognisable forms often emerge, encouraging viewers to pause, explore and discover something new with every viewing.
